THE PHYSIOLOGY OF DOMESTIC ABUSE

A trauma-informed educational

live workshop

Understand what abuse does to the brain, body, and nervous system

& why healing can feel so confusing, slow or even unsafe at first.

You are not broken.

Your body adapted to survive.

What This Workshop Is:

This is an education-based, trauma-informed workshop created through the work of The Mental Wellbeing Company,

designed to help you understand what’s happening inside your body during and after abuse.

We explore the stress response, survival patterns, and nervous system overload

that doesn't simply disappear when a relationship ends.

There’s no judgment. No pressure.

No “just think positive.”

Only understanding that helps you make sense of yourself again, without shame.

This workshop is rooted in education, compassion, and trauma-informed care, not judgment or diagnosis.

You're not alone if you've wondered....

"Why did I stay "

"Why does my body still feel on edge or broken"

"Why can't I just move on"

"Why do I keep finding myself in toxic relationships "

These questions are not failures of strength, they're signals from a nervous system shaped by survival.

This workshop is

for you if...

You’ve been through emotional, psychological, or physical abuse & your body still hasn’t caught up to the fact that it’s over.

You live on edge, shut down, panic, go numb, or constantly question yourself even when nothing is “wrong.”

You’re tired of explanations that make you feel broken, dramatic, or weak, and you want answers that actually make sense.

You support survivors personally or professionally and want to understand trauma beyond talk and coping skills.

You want to learn without pressure. You don’t have to share your story. You can come, listen, and leave quietly.

Nothing will be forced. Your nervous system sets the pace.

What can this workshop do for you?

✓ Feel less confusion and more validation about your body’s reactions

✓ Know what’s biologically behind freeze, fawn, and shutdown

✓ Understand coercive control without self-blame

✓ Understand why “moving on” can feel impossible even when you want to

✓ Reconnect safety and build self-trust

What you’ll walk

away with:

✓ Greater clarity around your nervous system responses

✓ A calmer understanding of your body’s protective patterns

✓ Language for experiences that were hard to name

✓ Increased self-compassion and reduced self-blame

Learn more about your instructor :

Hi, I’m Sommer.

I’m a somatic trauma-informed coach, narcissistic abuse specialist, Mental Wellbeing Practitioner, and the founder of Sommertime Soul.

I understand trauma not only academically ,but personally on many levels .

I know what it’s like to live in survival mode.

To question yourself.

To feel like your body is reacting in ways you can’t fully explain.

This is the workshop I wish I had over a decade ago.

I’ve worked one-on-one with clients in their recovery from narcissistic trauma, and I’m proud to be an instructor through The Mental Wellbeing Company, delivering accredited workshops designed to bring more awareness and bridge a critical gap in trauma healing.

Through my work, I support individuals in understanding how trauma impacts the body, the nervous system, and our sense of safety. My approach is rooted in education, compassion, and nervous-system awareness , not blame, shame, or pressure.

I believe healing begins when we understand what happened to us, rather than asking what’s wrong with us.

This workshop is a safe space designed to help you understand what your body has been carrying, without reliving the past or force vulnerability.

You'll receive education, nervous-system insight, and a grounded space to learn in a way that feels respectful and safe.

If this feels like the next step you are looking for, I would love to have you join me.
