I thought my life would always feel sad, shameful, full of guilt, and very little hope to change. I did not know just how much I was struggling and feeling like I was drowning until I was able to feel safe enough to talk to someone like Sommer. It has been very freeing, comforting, and validating to move forward and to feel hopeful and positive.
Biggest takeaway: you are worth investing in. Sommer is knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate in teaching you how to reestablish your foundational worth. You will learn new skills and tools to help you shift your thoughts and start writing a new narrative based on truth — not the lies that destruction and confusion have tried to say.
My biggest takeaway is I have found a safe place to be vulnerable and to speak things I keep inside. It is knowing that I am doing something to help me — and it helps me know I will not always be in this place of hurt. It offers me hope. I would tell anyone on the fence: take a step. It will give you hope, and the healing will come.
My experience working with Sommer has been an incredible journey that has truly changed my life. She has not only helped me become aware of and get through my trauma from narcissistic abuse, but has helped me become a more confident person. She has gone above and beyond what her job entails. I would not be where I am at without her.
This type of work is unlike anything I have experienced in therapy before. What stood out most was the sense of control I have needed in my healing. Sommer created a space that felt genuinely safe, where I did not feel rushed or judged while working through the harder parts of myself.
Learning about my nervous system and how it shapes my day-to-day life has been eye-opening. I am becoming more aware of my body's responses — whether that is feeling frozen, needing to escape, defend myself, or completely shut down. While there has not been a dramatic change, I feel more aware of what is happening in my body and I am taking time to pause, notice, and understand my reactions.
I have also felt more able to share with those closest to me what I am working through, without feeling responsible for how they perceive my healing. I am grateful for this process and proud of myself for choosing to face the hard things, even when it would have been easier to avoid them.
I am so thankful for Sommer's education and knowledge in dealing with toxic and narcissistic character traits as well as self care through the healing process. Such valuable insights to apply in life going forward.
Sommer is so understanding and compassionate regarding the events in my life. It is so important to have someone who listens to my fears and concerns, without judgement or dismissiveness. Surviving in a destructive environment is very hard and especially lonely. Sommer has made herself vulnerable to share her experience, strength, and hope so we can find our own.
